We heard about the "Allscripts Open API Patient Engagement Challenge" and simply HAD to give it a shot.
Allscripts is a leader in healthcare information technology solutions that advance clinical, financial and operational results. Among other products, the company proposes desktop EHR (Electronic Health Records) solutions.
The goal of this Challenge is to create an ecosystem of patient facing applications that meet MU3 requirements and integrate with Allscripts solutions via Allscripts Open APIs. And we did it!
...riiight...if you're as IT educated as me, this won't make a lot of sense. So I talked to our CTO to get him to translate all this into the common tongue, and it turns out it is a pretty big deal!
We used the existing protocol/interface from Allscripts to access their users database. We developed a complementary module to Andaman7 that allows the user to search through the whole database of Allscripts users and to download the information as a health record directly IN Andaman7. The solution works on any Android or iOS device!
We are super excited to have managed such a clean connection with a foreign system (AllScripts uses a FHIR API, which is a simplification of the widely used HL7 medical data standard)
