Antoine Purnelle - Software Engineer

Hi everyone!

My name is Antoine Purnelle and I joined the Andaman7 team as a software developer in December 2015 with the aim to bring Andaman7 to Android users as soon as possible (and as well made as possible). We’ve all been working hard on it since then.

I’ve always been fond of technology. I had these MP3 players that were big USB sticks. I was one of the first to have one with 1GB of storage. “Are you crazy Antoine? What are you going to do with 1GB? It’s too much”. Seems silly now, doesn’t it?
I also had the first iPod Touch (and the second one... and the third one…) as well as the mythical Nokia N97. Then one day, I bought my first Android smartphone: an HTC Desire HD. Quite a revolution when it came out. That’s when my love for the little green robot started.

I’ve studied Computer Sciences at La Province de Liège Higher Education (In.Pr.E.S.). Very soon, I knew that among all the fields I could chose, development was the one for me. Especially for mobile devices.

Why working for Andaman7 while there are plenty of other companies making more mobile apps? Well, it’s true that I am an advanced mobile user but I am also a big medical user ;-) Broken bones, perimyocarditis (a little virus trying to destroy your heart), open wounds, … You name it ! All this made me realise that there is something wrong about our medical system. In Belgium we have GREAT healthcare but… where are our data? How do I get my records? More importantly: how do a share it with my family or another doctor? I was shocked when not that long ago, I saw a doctor asking my hospital to fax him my records. I thought this technology was dead.

So, when I first heard of Andaman7, I immediately took a lot of interest in the project. Not having an iDevice, I couldn’t get my hands on it. I sent an email to Vincent to say that as soon as the Android version would be in beta, he could send it to me and I would test it and give my feedback. Instead, a few month later, he asked me to be part of the adventure. I took the opportunity right away.

Now you know me and why I am thrilled to be part of the technological revolution in the medical sector. I love what I do and I am very lucky to be in such a motivated, efficient and friendly team.
